Planta Medica Special Issue on the occasion of the 85th birthday of Professor Otto Sticher

Planta Medica – GA’s official journal – has honored the outstanding scientific achievements of Professor Otto Sticher, our former GA President, by publishing a special issue on the occasion of his 85th birthday. On November 12th, 2021, the final version of the special issue was presented to the honoree in a virtual meeting.

Professor Otto Sticher is one of the most renowned researchers in the field of pharmacognosy and phytochemistry. He has always been very involved with our society and served as President of the GA from 1978 to 1983. In addition to his outstanding research activities, he has been strongly committed to teaching, which is reflected by authoring one of the most famous textbooks in the field of pharmacognosy, i.e. “Pharmakognosie – Phytopharmazie”, which still enjoys the highest recognition. To honor Otto Sticher’s scientific oeuvre and to pay tribute to him as a great person, the President of GA together with the Editors-in-Chief of Planta Medica have decided to dedicate a special issue to him. This issue (14/2021) is now available online. GA President Professor Rollinger, Planta Medica Co-Editor-in-Chief Professor Fürst and Special Issue Guest Editor Professor Heilmann, who was a student of Professor Sticher, met the honoree and his wife Miriam Sticher in an online meeting, congratulated him on his birthday and virtually presented him the special issue. The hard copy version will be handed over as soon as it is possible to meet again in person.
