Dr. Willmar Schwabe Research Scholarship 2021 to Isa Anina Lambrechts

The Dr. Willmar Schwabe Research Scholarship 2021 is bestowed to Isa Anina Lambrechts from the University of Pretoria to perform studies on Plectranthus genus fermented extracts. The aim of the Dr. Willmar Schwabe Research Scholarship is to support young scientists, especially from developing countries, in a research attachment to a leading research institution.

Isa Anina Lambrechts is a PhD student of Medicinal Plant Science at the Department of Plant and Soil Sciences of the University of Pretoria, South Africa. Her PhD research focuses on using indigenous South African plants from the Lamiaceae family to treat skin-related infections such as acne vulgaris, wound and prosthesis-related infections. Her granted project investigates the potential of fermented extracts of the genus Plectranthus to target antibiotic resistance and quorum sensing associated with the above mentioned infections.

The planned work will be conducted at the University of Pretoria jointly with the University of Genève (Dr. Emerson F. Queiroz), where she will carry out UHPLC–MS studies to identify bioactive compounds of the developed extracts.

Best compliments from the Society for Medicinal Plant and Natural Product Research to Miss Isa Anina Lambrechts.

On behalf of the entire Board of the Society for Medicinal Plant and Natural Product Research (GA) – Judith M. Rollinger (president), Anna-Rita Bilia and Michael Heinrich (vice presidents), Olaf Kelber and Bernd Roether (ExCo members).

The award ceremony will take place in the opening session at the annual GA conference on September 6, 2021. All GA members as well as guests from all societies and people dedicated to natural product research are highly welcome. For more information please visit the conference homepage.
